Meet Dr. Yoshino, DO

Dr. Makoto Yoshino, DO, (Dr. Mako) specializes in Family Medicine, Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, and Sports Medicine. Fluent in English, Japanese, and Medical Spanish, he can effectively communicate with a diverse range of patients. His journey into medicine took a unique path, starting with a year in the advertising industry before he discovered his true calling in healthcare.

Dr. Mako’s educational background is diverse, having attended Keio University in Japan before earning his medical degree from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, VA in 2014. He furthered his training with a residency in Family Medicine at Carilion Hospital in Roanoke, WA, followed by a Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (NMM) and Osteopathic Medicine, where he also served as an assistant professor.

With a deep commitment to enhancing his skills and knowledge, Dr. Mako completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Northwell Plainview Hospital in NY, further specializing in musculoskeletal health and sports-related injuries.

Dr. Mako’s clinical interests are wide-ranging, including acute and chronic neck and low back pain, sacroiliac joint dysfunction, hypermobility, and sports medicine/musculoskeletal injuries. He is particularly passionate about utilizing osteopathic manipulative treatment, craniosacral therapy, and diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound to develop individualized treatment plans for his patients.

What sets Dr. Mako apart is his compassionate approach to patient care. He treats each patient as if they were a member of his own family, prioritizing their well-being and working tirelessly to maximize their healing potential through non-surgical interventions.
